St. Anne’s Church is one of Aachen’s oldest religious sites. Originally founded in 1511 as the convent church of a Benedictine nunnery, it later became the city’s Protestant church. From early on, it shaped life in the neighborhood, which was then still called Scherpstraße. The building evolved over the centuries and was redesigned in the mid-18th century by Johan Josef Couven, who gave the space its current serene elegance.
