Aachen is the westernmost city in Germany and lies on the border with the Netherlands and Belgium. To the south, Aachen borders the Eifel and the High Fens, which are ideal for a trip into the countryside. If you're in Aachen for a while, it's definitely worth taking a detour into the surrounding area!
The nearest airports are Cologne Bonn Airport (85 km), Düsseldorf Airport (99 km) and Maastricht Aachen Airport (27 km) in the Netherlands and Liège Airport (60 km) in Belgium.
There are currently several construction sites in Aachen. You can find an overview on the website of the city of Aachen.
Please note in particular the closure of the A544. This is completely closed due to the construction of a new bridge. Please drive around the closure and use other highway junctions to get to the city center. Coming from Cologne or the Netherlands on the A4, we recommend taking the Aachen-Zentrum exit. On the A44 coming from Düsseldorf or Belgium, we recommend taking the Aachen-Brand exit. Please be sure to use the parking guidance system (signs with electronic parking space display) and follow the detour signs on site.
